The Transversal Orchestra of the People of San Frediano and Santo Spirito
Directed by Maestro Matteo Ceramelli, the Orchestra Trasversale delle Genti di San Frediano e Santo Spirito is a growing Ensemble, embracing a whole district of Florence: children, the elderly, natives and immigrants, instruments of every kind, no border between “performers” and “audience”.
Discovering communication between people, breaking down barriers, rebuilding a living district and a resonant community.
The Orchestra is rooted in the Nidiaci Garden, the space for children and families of the district and a seedbed of initiatives in the last part of the historic centre of Florence which still has a life of its own.
The Orchestra intends to be everywhere in the district, and cooperates with the local primary and middle schools.
The Orchestra meets every Thursday at 5 p.m. At the Nidiaci Garden in Via d’Ardiglione, behind the Carmine church. It is totally free of charge and no musical skills are required: just willingness to discover them together. The doors are always open for new members. |
The Orchestra is looking for instruments of any kind: if you want to give some, or are just looking for information, write to giardinonidiaci@gmail.com
